ASO begins with relevance
App Store Optimization is the discipline of helping the right people understand and find an app. Start with one primary player problem or fantasy—not a giant keyword list. Build your title, subtitle or short description, long description, screenshots, and preview around that coherent promise.
Build a keyword map
List phrases a potential player might use: genre, mechanic, audience, and mode. Separate terms you can credibly claim from terms that merely have volume. Give each meaningful phrase a natural home in the listing. Read it aloud; if it sounds like a search query rather than a game description, rewrite it.
Let screenshots answer questions
The first three screenshots should make the loop, reward, and visual identity obvious. Add short, legible captions only when they clarify what is happening. Localize screenshots and listing copy for markets you actively support; geographic relevance comes from genuinely useful local language and support, not from repeating place names.
Improve from evidence
Watch impression-to-page-view and page-view-to-install changes after a single test. Read reviews for repeated confusion, performance problems, and missing expectations. Protect long-term ratings by showing real gameplay and being direct about pricing, ads, and online requirements.
